Overview
CNC Programmer – Engineering Tech V at Medtronic, Warsaw, Indiana. Responsibilities include developing CNC machining program code, reviewing drawings, providing technical support, analyzing data, driving improvements, and collaborating cross‑functionally to advance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities- Develop all CNC machining program code.
- Review engineering drawings and initiate changes or recommendations via the change control system.
- Provide technical support to engineers for cycle‑time, yield, cost, quality, safety, and compliance improvements.
- Monitor instruments and equipment, collecting operating data for calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities.
- Analyze and resolve malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems.
- Conduct analyses and prepare reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting, and root‑cause analyses.
- Maintain process designs to optimize use of process, equipment, and facility per SOP and GMP.
- Execute change control and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) policies.
- Work with cross‑collaborative teams on risk management activities (e.g., PFMEA).
- Create conceptual designs for new fixtures and special cutting tools, including tool design reviews.
- Recommend plant layout, machine platforms, and capital equipment requirements.
- Develop manufacturing setup sheets and recommend equipment acquisitions.
- Work with suppliers on equipment specifications and delivery schedules.
- Review product drawings for manufacturability and initiate drawing changes.
- Support validation and qualification studies.
- Assist in product launches, transfers, and core business initiatives.
- Lead training of new team members and new CNC machine programs, machining processes, or equipment.
- Travel as required for company business.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with CAM/CAD (Mastercam, Pro/Engineer) and Vericut.
- Direct machining support experience: creating new programs, troubleshooting, and updating programs.
- Advanced understanding of machine platforms: mills, chuckers, Swiss style lathes.
- Proven troubleshooting of machining issues, research, and developing tools, fixtures, and programming solutions.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (ISO
13485, ISO
14971, MDD
93/42
EEC, PAL, CMDR, 21
CFRPart
820). - Good oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, under pressure, and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Team collaboration and continuous improvement commitment.
- For degrees earned outside the U.S., compliance with 8C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
- U.S. work authorization required; sponsorship only for principal‑level roles.
