Process Engineer – Closures & Bonding

Location:

Warsaw, Indiana

About the Opportunity We are seeking a Process Engineer – Closures & Bonding to support and optimize coating and bonding operations within a manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and continuously improving production processes related to vehicle closures, coating applications, and bonding systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing process engineering, automation, quality improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll DoProcess Design & Optimization
  • Develop and implement systems, processes, and strategies to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Design, test, validate, and optimize coating and bonding processes to improve throughput, quality, and reliability.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and conduct process simulations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions to support operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
Quality & Performance Management
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for coating and bonding operations.
  • Monitor key process metrics and ensure compliance with product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Investigate process variation and implement solutions to improve consistency and reliability.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to production and quality concerns.
  • Promote best practices and innovative manufacturing solutions.
Technical Leadership & Support
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production teams, technicians, and junior engineers.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, process, and material-related issues within coating and bonding operations.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and supplier teams to implement new processes and improvements.
  • Support equipment commissioning, process validation, and production launches as needed.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain safe work procedures related to coating, bonding, and automation systems.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, control plans, and operating procedures.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on process performance, improvement initiatives, and project outcomes for leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of process engineering experience supporting coating or bonding operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with FANUC automated closure cell systems, including applications related to hoods, doors, liftgates, or similar assemblies.
  • Experience developing and optimizing manufacturing processes with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Pre-Treat Electro-Deposition (PTED/E-Coat) processes.
  • Experience with metal-to-plastic bonding applications.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with process validation, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods within a manufacturing environment.
Compensation

Base Salary Range: $108,877 – $163,316 annually #IND1#ZR
