We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving weld cells, conveyance systems, and mechanical equipment. This role ensures maximum uptime, reliability, and safety through preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and minor fabrication tasks. You will play a critical role in keeping clamping systems, fixtures, conveyors, power roll beds, and automation equipment operating efficiently in a high-volume automotive environment.

What

you get to do

  • Diagnose mechanical issues in gearboxes, spindles, motors, bearings, and pneumatic tools using diagrams, precision instruments, and diagnostic methods.
  • Dismantle, repair, and replace defective mechanical parts using cranes, hoists, and hand/power tools.
  • Fabricate or repair components using welding, machining, and other shop equipment (drill press, grinder, band saw, torch, etc.).
  • Support equipment upgrades, running changes, and system updates with minimal disruption to production.
  • Install and align new machinery and equipment using precision tools (squares, micrometers, levels, plumb bobs).
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including hoses, valves, cylinders, solenoids, and pumps.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures, throughput losses, and quality issues; drive corrective actions.
  • Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to develop documentation, training, and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Apply national mechanical safety standards and ensure compliance with guarding, interlocks, and mechanical safety devices.
  • Support shop housekeeping, 5S, and safety compliance; maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you bring to the team

Education

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc robots, conveyance systems, and mechanical weld fixtures.

Technical Skills

  • Skilled in welding (various joints/positions), machining, and custom part fabrication.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and hose fabrication.
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly/repair of motors, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and screws.
  • Familiar with interference fits, bearing heaters, and precision alignment methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and operate mobile equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, etc.).
  • Capable of lifting/carrying 50–70 lbs. and performing physical maintenance work.
  • Able to work shifts of up to 12 hours, with overtime and weekends as required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Preferred
