Material & Warehouse Supervisor Overview
A leading organization in the automotive manufacturing space is seeking a highly organized Material & Warehouse Supervisor to oversee material flow, inventory control, and warehouse operations in a fast‑paced production environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of materials to support production schedules and minimize supply disruptions. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands‑on warehouse experience, and a proactive mindset to drive accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across material operations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead warehouse and material handling team members, ensuring proper storage, movement, and handling of materials
- Manage material flow and inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess stock
- Train, mentor, and develop hourly team members to build a strong and reliable workforce
- Perform inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy and accountability
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to manage purchase orders, lead times, and replenishment schedules
- Partner with logistics teams to optimize inbound and outbound shipments
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to track material availability, usage, and planning cycles
- Apply Lean principles such as Just‑in‑Time (JIT), Kanban, and pull systems to improve efficiency
- Identify and resolve material shortages, supply chain disruptions, and process gaps
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, storage requirements, and operational procedures
- Manage shift scheduling and workforce planning to meet production demands
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and enforce company policies
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse and material operations
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 6+ years; or PhD with 3+ years; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse management, materials supervision, or supply chain operations within an automotive or manufacturing environment
- Proven experience leading and developing hourly warehouse or material handling teams
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material flow
- Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles including JIT, Kanban, and process improvement methods
Base salary is expected to fall within the range of $101,000 to $151,000 annually. Compensation decisions are based on experience, skills, education, and other business‑related factors.
