Process Engineer, Body Shop Position Summary The Process Engineer, Body Shop is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and improving manufacturing processes related to vehicle body assembly operations. This role partners closely with production and support teams to maintain process stability, enhance quality and efficiency, implement running changes, and resolve manufacturing challenges while ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.

  • Support daily body shop production operations to ensure quality, safety, and throughput objectives are achieved.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to reduce downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate and execute engineering changes with minimal impact to production schedules.
  • Perform time studies, capacity analysis, and bottleneck assessments to improve manufacturing flow and performance.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide timely solutions to support production demands.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other support teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve process performance.
  • Gather feedback from operators, team leaders, and supervisors to identify operational challenges and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in quality investigations and lead root cause analysis activities.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring issues.
  • Support new process initiatives and operational changes through effective communication and teamwork.
Quality & Process Reliability
  • Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet internal quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Monitor key process indicators and proactively address potential quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to improve inspection methods, process controls, and defect prevention activities.
  • Drive process standardization and best practices across the manufacturing environment.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Support safety initiatives and promote a culture focused on employee wellbeing and operational excellence.
  • Participate in safety reviews and process risk assessments as needed.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain process documentation, work instructions, operating procedures, and engineering records.
  • Track and report key process performance metrics and improvement results.
  • Document engineering changes and ensure established change management procedures are followed.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process optimization, and production support activities.
  • Proven experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret production data and use analytical tools to drive decision making.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems, process monitoring tools, and standard engineering software applications.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting high-volume production operations required.
  • Automotive body assembly, body shop, or similar vehicle manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements, production efficiency initiatives, and quality enhancements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
