Electrical Assembly Technician

Job Description

Starke America is looking for a dependable, hands-on Electrical Assembly Technician to join our team in Warsaw, Indiana.

This position will primarily be responsible for the assembly, wiring, setup, and testing of overhead crane components, hoist components, and crane kits. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with both electrical and mechanical components and takes pride in making sure equipment is assembled correctly and functions properly before it leaves our facility.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assemble hoist components and overhead crane kits
• Perform electrical wiring of hoists, controls, and related crane components
• Work with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and electrical control components
• Read and follow electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions
• Use mechanical and electrical knowledge to properly assemble components
• Set up and test completed assemblies
• Verify electrical and mechanical functions before products are shipped
• Troubleshoot wiring, controls, or assembly issues when something does not operate correctly
• Identify potential problems and help determine the proper solution
• Maintain an organized and safe work area
• Assist with other assembly and shop responsibilities as needed

Preferred Skills & Experience

We would prefer a candidate with previous experience in electrical or electromechanical assembly, although experience specifically with overhead cranes or hoists is not required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience with electrical wiring and electrical components
• Basic understanding of VFDs, motors, controls, and related equipment
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience
• Ability to read electrical schematics or wiring diagrams
• Ability to use basic electrical testing equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot problems rather than simply follow assembly instructions
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
• Good organizational skills
• Willingness to learn Starke products and our assembly processes
• Ability to work independently as knowledge and experience increase

What We Are Looking For

This position is a good fit for someone who likes to build, wire, test, and troubleshoot equipment.

We are not necessarily looking for someone who already knows our specific products. We can provide product training. We are looking for someone with a solid electrical and mechanical foundation who can learn how our equipment works and eventually use that knowledge to assemble and troubleshoot products with limited supervision.
