Manufacturing Quality Engineer – Problem Solving & Training

Join the team of a leading manufacturer as they continue to build and grow a newly established manufacturing operation. We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with a passion for developing people, leading structured problem solving, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. This highly visible role will partner with leadership, engineering, and manufacturing to establish plant-wide quality training programs, coach teams in effective problem‑solving methodologies, and help build a world‑class quality culture from the ground up.
Responsibilities- Serve as the site leader for structured problem solving and quality continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in resolving complex manufacturing, supplier, launch, and customer quality issues.
- Facilitate structured problem‑solving methodologies including PDCA, A3, 8D, DMAIC, 5 Why, and Fishbone.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve plant‑wide quality training programs.
- Deliver engaging training focused on quality mindset, built‑in quality, defect prevention, statistical thinking, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Coach and mentor employees at all levels of the organization, adapting training and communication styles to meet diverse learning needs.
- Support and mentor Green Belt and Black Belt projects while strengthening problem‑solving capabilities throughout the facility.
- Establish standardized problem‑solving tools, expectations, and best practices across the operation.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to identify capability gaps and implement targeted development plans.
- Measure the effectiveness of training and continuous improvement initiatives through key performance metrics.
- Support new product and process launches by embedding quality principles and structured problem solving.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality and Engineering to resolve cross‑functional quality concerns.
- Champion a culture of accountability, data‑driven decision making, and operational excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification required with the ability and desire to obtain Master Black Belt certification; candidates already holding a Master Black Belt are highly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, continuous improvement, or operational excellence.
- Demonstrated expertise in structured problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Experience developing, implementing, and leading plant‑wide quality training programs.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively engage employees from the production floor through senior leadership.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive sustainable improvements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving manufacturing environment while balancing multiple priorities.
- Experience supporting a new manufacturing facility, plant expansion, or significant operational growth.
- Automotive OEM or Tier 1 manufacturing experience.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
- Demonstrated success driving cultural change through continuous improvement initiatives.
