Job SummaryMaintenance Specialist responsible for performing maintenance on all mechanical and electrical components of manufacturing and processing equipment, as well as associated plumbing, carpentry and vehicle equipment. Tasks include operating cutting and welding equipment, unloading and moving equipment, and operating forklifts and company vehicles. Records all maintenance work performed.
Duties & Responsibilities- Move material as requested and maintain quality of work.
- Perform cleaning, basic maintenance of equipment, general housekeeping, and 6S activities.
- Read, comprehend, and apply processes, criteria and required procedures.
- Ensure safe and environmentally responsible work by following all safety, regulatory, and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to management.
- When supervising, ensure subordinates follow all company safety and environmental guidelines and that necessary resources are available.
- Maintain personal and company compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Four‑year accredited apprenticeship or eight or more years of diversified experience in industrial maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, construction, PLCs, and grounds keeping.
- Broad knowledge of mechanical equipment, electricity, plumbing, carpentry, construction and related processes.
- Ability to read, understand and apply complex drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, shop mathematics, and precision‑measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and apply relevant codes, including electrical codes and safety practices.
- Accreditation as a forklift operator and ability to maintain it.
- Equipment maintenance
- OSHA compliance
- Good manufacturing practices (GMP)
- Maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
- Operating cutting and welding equipment
- Forklift operation
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings
$44.67 per hour under a collective bargaining agreement in a union environment.
