Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President, Business Development & Public Safety
Location: Providence County, Rhode Island
MGT is seeking a contract employee to support one of our valued clients on an ongoing, long-term assignment. This position requires full-time, on-site availability and flexibility to work irregular shifts as needed.
This is a highly visible executive operations role responsible for helping the EVP drive priorities, enforce accountability, remove obstacles, and ensure disciplined follow-through across a large and diverse portfolio. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted extension of the EVP, translating executive direction into action, monitoring progress, identifying risks, and ensuring commitments are completed with urgency, accuracy, and appropriate documentation.
The successful candidate will be meticulous, disciplined, detail-oriented, and highly effective at follow-up. This role requires a strong professional presence and the ability to hold people to task, run interference when priorities stall, and ensure that department leaders follow through on commitments while preserving clear lines of operational responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the EVP's Chief of Staff by organizing priorities, coordinating execution, and ensuring timely follow-through across the Business Development & Public Safety portfolio.
- Translate executive direction into clear assignments, milestones, deadlines, owners, and expected outcomes.
- Maintain consolidated work plans, status reports, dashboards, scorecards, and performance indicators across assigned departments.
- Hold department leaders and responsible parties accountable for commitments, deadlines, deliverables, and corrective actions.
- Run interference on behalf of the EVP by identifying obstacles, resolving coordination issues, elevating barriers, and ensuring stalled matters regain momentum.
- Establish clear ownership, decision authority, accountability measures, and escalation processes for major initiatives and recurring responsibilities.
- Verify reported performance through documentation review, quality assurance checks, field observations, site visits, and comparison with observable results.
- Monitor significant contracts, vendors, invoices, deliverables, purchase orders, budgets, and expenditures to ensure appropriate oversight and controls.
- Identify operational, financial, regulatory, contractual, reputational, and organizational risks and ensure timely mitigation or escalation.
- Prepare executive briefings, decision memoranda, dashboards, reports, and presentations for senior leadership and Board-related matters.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, aviation management, finance, organizational management, or a related field.
- At least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience, including significant management, project, operational, financial, administrative, or executive staff responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives, coordinating complex priorities, and driving work across multiple departments or stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong follow-up discipline, and proven ability to hold individuals and teams accountable for commitments and deadlines.
- Disciplined, tough-minded, detail-oriented operating style with the professional confidence to push for answers, clarify ownership, and ensure follow-through.
- Strong personality and executive presence sufficient to run interference, address obstacles, and influence outcomes across organizational boundaries.
- Experience with budgeting, procurement, contract administration, performance measurement, and project management.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial information and identify risks, trends, and performance deficiencies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Master's degree in business administration, public administration, aviation management, or a related field.
- Airport, aviation, transportation, governmental, public authority, or similarly complex operational experience.
- Experience supporting executive leadership.
- Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, management reports, work plans, and organizational controls.
- Familiarity with FAA, TSA, public procurement, contracting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Project management or aviation industry certification.
