Position: Special Ed Teacher - Warwick, Rhode Island
Make a real impact supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time, self-contained classroom for grades 3rd-5th. This contract opportunity, located near Warwick, RI, involves working with students with moderate to severe needs, providing a structured environment that fosters both academic and personal growth. As part of an inclusive educational setting, you'll help shape individualized education plans, collaborate closely with support staff, and be an advocate for your students' learning progress.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:
  • Active Rhode Island Special Education License is required.
  • Proven experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities, preferably in elementary grades.
  • Understanding of adapting curriculum and instructional practices for a range of learning abilities.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student's unique strengths and needs.
  • Strong communication skills for working with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom atmosphere.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Teach and support 3rd-5th grade students in a self-contained classroom setting.
  • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that align with each student's IEP goals.
  • Utilize effective classroom management and behavioral support strategies.
  • Collaborate with classroom aides, related service providers, and educational team members regularly.
  • Maintain thorough records, document student progress, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Adapt educational materials and approaches to ensure accessibility for all learners.
