Position: RI Academic Paraprofessional (2026-27) Rhode Island

Paraprofessional

Achievement First invites educators to apply for the full‑time Paraprofessional role. This position focuses on supporting student behavior and academic success through behavior systems, growth plans, and daily classroom assistance. The role includes working closely with teachers, administrators, and students to maintain high expectations and the REACH Values.

The Paraprofessional works full‑time with responsibilities such as creating behavior protocols, building rapport with students, providing classroom support during breakfast, lunch, and dismissal, attending professional development sessions, and collaborating with the Dean of School Culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a behavior system for students temporarily removed from classes.
  • Create growth plans and tracking charts for students needing additional support.
  • Build rapport with students, checking in daily and communicating with parents.
  • Provide administrative support at breakfast, lunch, and dismissal.
  • Attend all professional development sessions and staff meetings.
  • Assist the Dean of School Culture with related work as required.
  • Engage parents and families through regular communication.
  • Reflect on successes, seek improvement, and receive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a rigorous, joyful, and safe environment.
  • Hold all students accountable during transitions, meals, trips, etc.

Educational Background and Work Experience

Prior to hiring:

  • High School Diploma with a passing score on the Para Pro Exam.
  • Or 60 earned college credits, AA or BA degree.

Required, but may be obtained within 30 days of employment:

  • RIDE Teaching Assistant Training Certificate.
