JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:

Math Teacher, 6-12

• Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education in a core subject in Mathematics or ability to obtain..
• Ability to utilize various teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction.
• Knowledge of various technology to individualize learning.
• Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors.
• Physical ability to be trained in and use Crisis Intervention.

• Collaborate with special educators and other subject area teachers to provide appropriate instruction.
• Knowledge of State Standards.
• Familiar with IEP’s/504 plans and implement accommodations accordingly
• Attend meetings to present student progress and needs.
• Collect data as needed to adjust instruction.
• Create and implement clear expectations and proficient classroom management skills for student with challenging behaviors.
• On-going communication with families to discuss student progress/needs.
• Provide support in the event of a safety-related incident including the use of appropriate physical intervention
• Provide support for students in completing class assignments and to achieve their goals.
• Perform duties as assigned by the the Director of Special Education and Building Principal.
