JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Computer Science and Cybersecurity seeks a dynamic tenure-track faculty member to teach undergraduate courses across the computer science curriculum. The department prepares students for successful transfer opportunities and careers in computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, networking, artificial intelligence, and related computing disciplines. As a teaching-focused institution, CCRI values excellence in instruction, student engagement, advising, and curriculum development.

Teaching responsibilities will be based on departmental needs and the successful candidate's qualifications. Full-time faculty are expected to teach a full instructional workload consistent with the CCRI Faculty Association Agreement, advise and mentor students, participate in curriculum development and assessment, and contribute to departmental and college initiatives. Course assignments may include programming, software engineering, scripting, operating systems, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and other computer science disciplines.

This position will begin with the Spring 2027 semester.

  • Maintain current expertise through continuous professional development in computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, instructional technologies, and emerging computing trends, incorporating new developments into instruction where appropriate.

  • Deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and student success.

  • Develop, implement, and assess course competencies, learning outcomes, and student performance using equitable and effective assessment practices.

  • Adapt instructional strategies based on assessment results, student feedback, and diverse learning needs to continuously improve student learning.

Instructional

Skills:
  • Provide high-quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous online, asynchronous online, and laboratory learning environments.

  • Design, develop, and maintain curriculum, instructional materials, laboratory exercises, assignments, assessments, and experiential learning activities aligned with approved learning outcomes and current industry standards.

  • Integrate contemporary programming languages, secure software development practices, cloud platforms, cybersecurity technologies, instructional technologies, and other industry-standard computing tools into instruction.

  • Leverage Blackboard Ultra or comparable instructional technologies to support communication, assessment, student engagement, and course delivery.

  • Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback that promotes student achievement and continuous improvement.

Communication

Skills:
  • Communicate effectively in oral, written, electronic, and classroom environments with students, colleagues, administrators, and external stakeholders.

  • Present complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to students with diverse educational backgrounds and varying levels of technical experience.

  • Cultivate productive relationships through strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Provide timely, substantive, and constructive feedback that supports student learning, engagement, and academic success.

  • Maintain professional, responsive, and respectful communication using college-supported technologies.

Departmental Support:
  • Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered academic environment that values continuous improvement, creativity, adaptability, and teamwork.

  • Support curriculum development, program review, student recruitment, retention, advising, mentoring, outreach, and continuous program improvement.

  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and college committees, governance activities, accreditation efforts, assessment initiatives, and strategic planning.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, advisory boards, industry partners, and transfer institutions to maintain curriculum relevance and alignment with workforce and transfer needs.

  • Teach assigned courses and travel to multiple CCRI campuses as required by departmental needs.

  • Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the expectations of a tenure-track faculty member.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related computing discipline.
