BIM Specialist

BL Companies is growing and looking for a BIM Specialist to advance our firmwide BIM strategy. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for an experienced AEC professional who is passionate about quality, consistency, and innovation in digital design delivery.

As BIM Specialist you will partner closely with multidisciplinary project teams to drive BIM planning and execution from project kickoff through completion. You’ll set and uphold firmwide BIM standards, guide Level of Development, perform model audits, and resolve technical challenges, ensuring our teams deliver coordinated, high-quality models on every project.

You’ll also play a key role in developing talent across the firm by leading Revit training, strengthening digital asset libraries, and continuously improving BIM workflows and integration across disciplines.

Responsibilities Include:

• Integrate into project teams to collaborate on project design and execution.
• Ability to execute drawing production with the teams.
• Assist project teams with BIM project planning at project kickoff and project milestones.
• Advise and help define Level of Development/Detail for deliverables.
• Identify and assist in creating content, schedules, and families in all disciplines to enhance BLs digital asset and detail libraries.
• Educate on, and support, primary design applications and add-on programs.
• Design and deliver educational offerings ranging from basic to advanced use of Revit.
• Perform regular model audits.
• Troubleshoot model issues.
• Manage BIM standards development, implementation, and consistency.
• Assist in developing and administering BIM documentation and workflow process standards.
• Oversee new hire training and ongoing trainings for existing employees in Revit standards, templates, etc.
• May involve interfacing with our other disciplines/technologies including laser scanning/point cloud, Civil 3D and RAM structural software.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements in BIM Integration in a multidisciplinary firm.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, building science, engineering, architecture
• 10+ years’ experience in the AEC industry with working knowledge of all aspects of professional services from planning and schematic design through project close-out including design and technical expertise.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, training design, and delivery experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of Autodesk products.
• Self-motivated, able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, flexible and enthusiastic.
• Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in a timely and positive manner.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks and projects under constant deadlines.
• Ability to understand project workflows from preliminary design through construction documentation and administration.
