R&D Internship – BD Interventional Surgery

Location:

Warwick, RI. This internship provides hands‑on experience in the Research & Development group, working with cross‑functional product development teams to support medical device development.

• Build and evaluate product prototypes.
• Write and develop test methods and document new product concepts.
• Document all test results and assembly processes.
• Attend and contribute to product development meetings with representatives from Marketing, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Quality, and other functions.
• Invent new concepts and designs for products, processes, and test methods.
• Design, procure and fabricate simple tooling and fixtures.
• Coordinate engineering tests and experiments.
• Participate in innovation challenges.
• Communicate technical results to audiences of varied technical expertise.
• Complete basic tasks on engineering documentation.
• Train technicians/operators on new processes and test procedures.
• Identify improvement areas, suggest solutions, and submit idea records.
• Carry out special projects as assigned.

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Only students in their Sophomore year or above will be considered.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale).
• Strong interest in medical device development and availability to work on‑site during the internship.
• Demonstrated record of leadership or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is preferred.
