Senior Design Engineer
Location:
Warwick, RD
Employment Duration: 7+ Months Contract
Hours per Week: 40
Shift: 1st shift
Responsibilities- Provide design engineering technical leadership and support on cross-functional product development teams through all phases of the design cycle, including initial concept design/prototyping, product development, and design documentation required to bring surgical devices or related medical products to market.
- Support bench testing/inspection fixture and production tooling design, development, and documentation activities.
- Coordinate and implement concurrent engineering practices within the organization or with external development partners.
- Mentor and develop lower-level engineers and specialists.
- Utilize Solid Works CAD to provide mechanical engineering support for medical device components, assemblies, and final packaging.
- Create and develop new product and tooling designs in a cross-functional team environment, providing innovative solutions that address design for manufacturing needs, mechanical/material selection, and manufacturing process challenges.
- Apply parametric 3D solid modeling, FEA, tolerance analysis, design of experiments, design layout, and prototype construction skills.
- Work closely with engineers, specialists, and production personnel to fabricate, troubleshoot, and assemble product or tooling design prototypes.
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformance to standards, accuracy of calculations, and proper dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Support design documentation and prototyping of internal intellectual property submissions.
- BS in engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced engineering degree with 2 years of experience.
- Knowledge of general design engineering principles, component manufacturing processes, tooling methodologies, and material properties.
- Experience with relevant parametric CAD modeling software.
- Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Advanced Solid Works CAD design, drawing, and PDM vault competencies.
- Knowledge of disposable or implantable medical device technologies.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
