This is a full-time, on-site senior management position reporting directly to ownership. To ensure a smooth transition, our retiring CFO will remain part-time for a limited period.
About the RoleThe Controller is the senior financial leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations while supporting strategic decision-making. This role manages and mentors a skilled accounting team and serves as a key partner to ownership and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and maintain accurate financial records using automated systems including Net Suite, Microsoft Office, and industry-specific software
- Manage daily and monthly cash reconciliations
- Supervise accounting staff and oversee A/P, A/R, credit card coding, and job costing journal entries
- Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries and accruals
- Prepare quarterly financial statements for CPA and bank review
- Develop the annual budget; analyze actual vs. budget and prior year results, explaining variances and identifying trends
- Prepare year-end financial schedules, reconciliations, and accruals for CPA review
- Manage annual insurance renewals and workers’ compensation audits
- Serve as a financial liaison with ownership, senior leadership, bankers, attorneys, and CPA partners
- Maintain working knowledge of SBA loans, EIDL loans, and workforce grant programs
- Oversee biweekly payroll approval, posting, and tracking
- Manage all aspects of Human Resources, including onboarding, file maintenance, and annual benefits review and presentation
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting required
- CPA or MBA a plus, but not required
- 8–10 years of experience in senior financial management
- Strong working knowledge of automated financial systems
- Human Resources experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and support a growing organization
