Job DescriptionSargent Center Physical Therapist
The physical therapist is responsible for the delivery of coordinated, comprehensive physical therapy services to individuals with any physical disability warranting physical restoration in accordance with professional standards and the agency policy and procedures. The physical therapist will provide those services in accordance with the highest industry and professional standards for client care consistent with the agency’s goals, objectives and philosophy.
These services may be provided in one or more of the agency’s programs.
- Three years of experience as a physical therapist
- Successful direct experience with children exhibiting social, emotional and behavioral challenges
- Successful experience working with children with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and autism
- Successful experience working with a team including Teaching Assistants, Job Coaches, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Special Education Teachers
- Understanding of critical practices and systems of positive behavior support
- Evidence of successful engagement with families
- Knowledge around physical therapy supports for students as well as adult outpatients
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations and willingness to implement the special education process
- Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to work with educators, therapists, administrators, and parents to problem-solve challenging issues
- Support students with community mobility needs
This person shall be licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Rhode Island Board of Health, Division of Professional Regulations. This person will be encouraged to secure additional education and training in the area of Physical Therapy.
