Compensation: Up to $215,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus

We are partnering with a large, complex organization seeking an experienced Director of Payroll & HR Systems to lead payroll operations, HRIS administration, workforce management systems, and a team of professionals supporting a multi-site employee population.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, system optimization, and the effective integration of payroll, HR, finance, and technology functions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing across a large employee population.
  • Oversee HRIS and workforce management platforms, including system administration, enhancements, upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Manage and develop a team of payroll and HR systems professionals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and external vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Direct payroll audits, controls, reconciliations, and payroll accounting processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll operations, HR systems, reporting, and workforce management.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee service delivery for payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping solutions.
  • Lead system implementations, conversions, integrations, and other strategic projects.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and internal controls to support operational excellence and data integrity.
  • Prepare and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll, HRIS, or workforce management leadership experience.
  • Experience managing payroll operations within a large, complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, payroll tax compliance, audits, and internal controls.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
  • Deep expertise with enterprise HRIS and workforce management systems.
  • Experience partnering with HR, Finance, IT, and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong project management and process improvement capabilities.
Preferred Experience
  • Healthcare, higher education, or other large multi-site environments.
  • Experience leading system upgrades, implementations, and organizational change initiatives.
