The Role

The Payroll Senior Consultant will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of Workday’s Payroll solution for our FSI and PS customers and for establishing and championing best practices for all deployments. The role focuses on the payroll area within the FSI or PS industries.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Become an expert in the Workday Payroll product suite
  • Provide FSI and PS industry perspective for customer business requirements
  • Ensure FSI and PS best practices are maintained to reflect new industry requirements and trends
  • Perform the following on an engagement: understand client business requirements, configure the Workday solution, demonstrate the configurations through the development of prototype systems, and assist the client in testing the Workday solution
  • Serve as a mentor for new Payroll Consultants
  • Ensure the client takes advantage of Workday FSI and PS best practices
  • Ensure the client is referenceable once the client is in production
  • Participate in update training and other events that help share one’s product skills with other consultants
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of functional implementation experience in Payroll software solutions or systems
  • 3+ years of consulting experience
  • Workday deployment experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Other Qualifications
  • Experience implementing Workday, SAP, Oracle, People Soft, Ultimate Software, ADP, Ceridian or similar applications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Strong background in Workday consulting is a plus
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training
  • Passion for customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Strong presentation skills, with proficiency in communicating across internal teams and customers through executive leadership
  • Experience with multiple HCM, payroll and/or financial applications is a plus
  • Resourceful and adaptable; comfortable working in a new role with a high degree of autonomy
  • Strong industry knowledge, particularly in current trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments to contribute to strategic planning, risk management, and new opportunities
  • Strong influencing skills, including persuasive communication and the ability to drive consensus and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, with focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues to foster collaboration and loyalty
  • Proven mentorship skills, with the ability to foster individual growth and development through constructive feedback and goal setting
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze requirements through various techniques, ensuring project clarity and alignment with stakeholder needs
  • Strong solutions design skills, able to analyze business challenges and develop effective technology-driven solutions that optimize resources
  • Expertise in strategic business consulting, including market analysis, financial acumen, and strategic planning to drive organizational growth and performance
  • Excellent task management skills, with proven ability to prioritize, organize, and execute tasks to enhance workflow and productivity
  • Exceptional teamwork skills, collaborating and communicating to contribute to a positive and productive work environment
  • Excellent time management skills, prioritizing and organizing workload to meet deadlines and enhance productivity
Remote Work

This position can be remote. Preference will be given to candidates located near Workday offices.

Benefits & Compensation

Primary Location: USA.IL.Chicago
Primary Location Base Pay Range: $122,800 USD - $184,200 USD
Additional US Location Base Pay Range: $111,000 USD - $197,300 USD
Additional considerations may apply for certain states. The role may also be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan, commission/bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.
