Your Opportunity
The Herff Jones Operations team is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our HJ Family.
Here s How You Will Make An Impact
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer s specifications on machinery, equipment, electrical wiring, fixtures and the physical structure. This is a skilled position responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment. A Maintenance Mechanic inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties, per manufacturer s specifications.
What You Will Do On A Daily Basis

As we see it for right now, however, here are the challenges that we want you to tackle:
- Diagnoses causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Adjusts, calibrates, aligns and modifies equipment and components.
- Assembles and installs mechanical components and systems using a variety of tools common to the trade.
- May work on assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and in opening clogged drains.
- May act as a carpenter in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures and furniture.
- May operate all kinds of hand and power tools such as hand saw, planer, joiner, shaper, table saw, wood lathe, drill press, sanding machine, router etc.
- Will maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use all tools carefully. Must always wear the appropriate PPE for the task that is being performed. Safety First!
- Will be an “on call” employee and will have to respond on nights, weekends (including Sundays) in the event of an emergency for equipment malfunctions, snowstorms or other unforeseen happenings.
What You Will Bring To The Table
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing setting in addition to having the following helpful experience:
- Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (for example, pinpointing and repairing problems associated with high speed manufacturing line breakdowns)
- Working with hydraulic systems (for example, understanding high-pressure cylinders, pumps, or valves and reading schematics and using for troubleshooting in high-speed manufacturing)
- Working with pneumatics (for example, working with solenoids, cylinders, or motor brakes and reading schematics and using for troubleshooting in high speed manufacturing)
- Working with electrical systems (for example, working with frequency drives, motor testing, troubleshooting, or panels in high speed manufacturing)
- Working with Programmable Logic Controllers – PLC (for example, understanding instructions, editing documentation, and/or navigation for A-B PLC-5 and A-B SLC-500)
