The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing safe, high‑quality, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions in the ambulatory surgery center. This role involves patient assessment, intraoperative support, postoperative recovery care, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure efficient, patient‑centered outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform preoperative patient assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Serve as circulating nurse in the operating room, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and patient safety standards.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, responses to anesthesia, and overall condition during surgery.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments as ordered.
- Document patient care, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with postoperative recovery, including pain management, patient/family education, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, scrub technicians, and other team members to promote safe, efficient surgical care.
- Maintain knowledge of infection control practices, regulatory standards (CMS, AAAHC, Joint Commission), and ASC policies.
Certifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current, active unencumbered RN license in the state of practice required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of perioperative nursing experience required; ASC or hospital OR experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, perioperative nursing principles, and patient safety standards.
- Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
