Territory Manager - BD
The Territory Manager will be responsible for driving adoption of BD’s Biosurgery products and Surgiphor with physicians, clinicians, materials management, and other key decision makers.
Responsibilities- Present, educate, and provide in‑services on the process/procedure of properly using BD’s products to surgeons, OR staff, and other individuals.
- Identify, target, and close new business.
- Provide on‑site technical support during procedures to ensure proper use of the products.
- Train and educate physicians and hospital staff on product use.
- Ensure surgeons and staff have the most current product information available.
- Ensure effective utilization of the products by all trained surgeons within the territory.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of BD’s products, channels, and methods of distribution.
- Meet territory sales and profitability goals.
- Develop new prospects and establish new customers.
- Inform customers of new and current products, back‑orders, general order status, current pricing structure, company policy changes, and forecasts for new needs.
- Achieve prompt, mutually satisfactory solution to customers’ complaints.
- Attend customers’ meetings and trade shows with post‑convention feedback.
- Inform District Manager and Franchise of significant market changes, competitive activity, customers’ credit status, and needed company policy changes.
- Maintain equipment, advertising, and promotional materials in a presentable and orderly manner.
- Complete all paperwork on time and thoroughly; keep accurate up‑to‑date account records.
- Utilize sales funnel to set goals and target accounts; devise and follow route plan guided by customers’ buying habits, current volume of orders, location of prospects, and competitive circumstances.
- Maintain relationships with the District Manager, fellow Territory Managers, and customers.
Travel:
Approximately 80% of work time will be spent traveling, including overnight.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant sales experience.
- Operating room sales or medical device experience preferred.
- Documentation of successful sales performance required.
- Ability to work in an operating room environment required.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Criminal background satisfactory to BD.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal customers (Sales Training, Marketing, National Accounts, Customer Service, Contracts, Field Sales Team) and external customers (KOLs, Surgeons, Physicians, Nurses, and Sourcing).
- Thorough understanding of sales needs and analysis approach.
- Understanding of contract administration and group purchasing.
- Must live within the assigned region.
- Procedure knowledge to illustrate convincingly the benefits of BD’s products.
- Basic anatomy knowledge to discuss products in relation to the human body.
- COVID‑19 vaccination status meeting BD requirements.
