Diesel Technician Mechanic

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Warwick, Rhode Island. This role offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a career in which you can feel good about your work.

• Hourly pay: $33.94 per hour
• Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

  First shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
• Carry out preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
• Identify root causes of basic failures and perform necessary repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
• Use shop management systems and electronic documentation as required
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as necessary to support operations, including, but not limited to, service island support

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• At least two years of a combination of classroom training and work experience in the required areas
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Ability to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/Motor Vehicle check with drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years
