Van Driver

Bright Stars helps families in Rhode Island access QUALITY child care, early learning, and school-age programs. We help child care providers learn about best practices in early learning and apply them to the care children receive. The Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting children between local schools and the program center. The Van Driver must ensure that children arrive safely, on time, and in a supportive environment. The driver maintains a safe vehicle, follows all transportation policies, and communicates effectively with other program staff.

• 21 years of age or older, must be able to obtain a chauffeur’s license.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
• Ability to pass required background checks and clearances.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
• Ability to assist children entering and exiting the vehicle.

• Safely transport children to and from Warwick and Cranston Public schools and the program center according to a scheduled route.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks before and after each route.
• Ensure all children are properly seated and following safety rules while in the vehicle.
• Maintain accurate attendance and transportation records for children during pick-up and drop-off.
• Follow all traffic laws, licensing requirements, and program transportation policies.
• Communicate with program staff regarding attendance, schedule changes or any concerns during transportation.
• Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle maintenance issues immediately to program administration.
• Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle.
• Foster a positive and respectful environment for children during transportation.

Part-Time, typically mornings and afternoons during the school year, aligned with Warwick and Cranston Public school schedules. Average schedule for van driver is 7:00am-9:00am and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Hours may be adjustable if needed.
