Job Title: Security Engineer – CCTV & Temporary Barriers

Location: Field-based across project sites (with travel to the Warwick depot)

Install, commission, maintain and rectify fixed and mobile CCTV systems and temporary barrier solutions across active project sites. The role ensures systems are deployed safely, configured to specification, and remain operational and compliant through routine testing, fault diagnosis, and remedial works.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Install and commission IP/analogue CCTV (cameras, NVRs/DVRs, VMS, PoE switches, wireless links, cabling, containment, power).
  • Deploy and configure rapid/mobile CCTV towers (mast setup, solar/battery/generator integration, 4G/5G routers, VPNs, remote access).
  • Install temporary barriers and hoardings (including surface‑mounted or anchored solutions) per method statements and site layout drawings.
  • Configure video analytics (motion, line crossing, intruder detection), camera fields of view, focus/iris, and recording retention.
  • Label, document, and hand over with as‑built diagrams, IP addressing plans, and O&M packs.
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM)—visual inspections, firmware updates, function tests, replay validation, UPS/battery tests, and CCTV health checks.
  • Conduct fault finding (network, power, storage, camera hardware, barrier integrity) and complete corrective actions to SLA.
  • Complete test sheets, barrier integrity logs, and maintain asset registers.
  • Verify evidence quality (export test clips, confirm time sync/NTP, verify watermarking where applicable).
  • Work to RAMS, site permits, and relevant standards (e.g., site rules, electrical isolation, work at height).
  • Ensure installations meet design specifications, data protection obligations (signage, viewing angles), and project security requirements.
  • Maintain neat, secure terminations and safe cable management; ensure barriers meet stability requirements and do not obstruct egress.
  • Keep accurate records; close out defects with root‑cause notes and photos.
  • Liaise with Site Management, H&S, and IT/Networks to plan installs and outages.
  • Brief subcontractors, oversee hired equipment, and coordinate deliveries/collections.
  • Provide end‑user training (basic VMS use, evidence export, incident reporting).
  • Support security incident response (rapid redeploy, evidence retrieval).
  • Proven experience installing and maintaining CCTV systems (IP preferred: ONVIF, PoE, VMS platforms).
  • Hands‑on with mobile CCTV towers and off‑grid power (battery/solar/generator) and 4G/5G connectivity.
  • Competent with temporary barriers/hoarding installs and safe methods of work.
  • Strong fault‑finding across power, networking (VLANs, DHCP/static IPs, subnets), and hardware.
  • Ability to read site drawings, produce as‑built, and manage small works documentation.
  • Comfortable with field work: lone working, outdoor environments, variable weather, manual handling.
  • Exposure to construction/civil engineering sites and CSCS/ECS card.
  • Experience with common VMS/NVR brands (e.g., Hikvision, Redvision, Avigilon, Hanwha, Milestone, Genetec, Uniview, Axis).
  • Basic networking certifications or knowledge (e.g., CompTIA Network+, vendor switch config).
  • Understanding of data protection in CCTV (signage, retention, role‑based access).
  • PASMA/IPAF for towers/MEWPs;
    Working at Height training.
  • First Aid (1‑day) and/or Fire Marshal.
About You
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS/ECS (or willingness to obtain).
  • SSTS/SSSTS (desirable) or equivalent site safety training.
  • Manufacturer training for relevant CCTV systems (desirable).
  • SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) licence (desirable where monitoring/export duties require).
