Position Summary

The Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing and optimizing logistics and supply chain operations within the pistachio processing facility. This position ensures the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished products while leading logistics personnel and coordinating activities between production, warehouse operations, and external vendors. The Logistics Lead ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and operational objectives.

Functions
  • Supervise, mentor, and support logistics personnel, including clerks, forklift operators, and warehouse employees.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely receipt and delivery of materials and products.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with warehouse personnel to maintain accurate stock records.
  • Build and maintain relationships with transportation providers and logistics vendors.
  • Resolve carrier issues, transportation delays, and service‐related concerns.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, food safety requirements, and government standards.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and safety reviews of logistics operations.
  • Utilize logistics and inventory management software to track shipments and analyze performance.
  • Prepare and review reports related to logistics operations and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate with production, quality assurance, sales, and warehouse departments to support operational goals.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, damaged goods, and logistics issues.
  • Train employees on logistics procedures, safety requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, vendors, and team members.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Associate Degree (A.A./A.S.) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain operations preferred.
  • Experience in food processing, manufacturing, or agricultural industries preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Proficiency with logistics and inventory management software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of logistics safety standards, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
  • Strong communication and decision‑making abilities.
  • Food manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics environment.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, varying temperatures, and moving machinery.
  • May work in warehouse areas, production facilities, loading docks, and confined spaces.
  • Exposure to pistachios and other tree nut allergens.
  • Frequent interaction with forklifts, transportation equipment, and warehouse machinery.
  • Work may occasionally require elevated work areas and outdoor conditions.
