Position Summary

The Quality 2 (QA2) is responsible for verifying product quality, food safety, packaging integrity, product classification, and production documentation prior to shipment. This position ensures that all products meet Primex Farms quality standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards. The QA2 performs product inspections, sample collection, quality testing, packaging verification, inventory support, and audit assistance while maintaining compliance with GMP, HACCP, food defense, allergen control, hygienic zoning, and company safety programs.

Functions
  • Collect product samples, including aseptic samples for microbiological analysis.
  • Accurately grade and classify products from production lines.
  • Assist QA1, QA2, and QA3 personnel as operational needs require.
  • Identify, document, and report defects in inshell and kernel products.
  • Perform hand sorting activities when required.
  • Record quality results and production data on written and electronic forms.
  • Complete microbiological and chemical testing requests for laboratory analysis.
  • Verify product categories, weights, and production information prior to posting license plates.
  • Print and post license plates for finished products.
  • Verify product quality, safety, legality, and packaging compliance prior to shipment.
  • Verify product labels for accuracy and compliance requirements.
  • Verify packaged products meet customer, company, and regulatory specifications.
  • Check scales, moisture analyzers, and metal detectors and report nonconformances.
  • Verify roasting requirements and roasting conditions for applicable products.
  • Perform salt percentage testing and packaging integrity testing, including oxygen and leak testing.
  • Verify incoming ingredients and products meet quality, safety, and legal requirements.
  • Perform cost analysis activities as assigned.
  • Complete product sample requests for customers, buyers, and trade representatives.
  • Assist with physical inventory verification.
  • Conduct daily inspections and report nonconformances.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report quality, food safety, and safety concerns to management.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.
  • Provide audit support as required.
  • Train new QA personnel when assigned.
  • Follow all GMPs, food safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, mathematical, and report‑writing skills required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Previous quality assurance, food manufacturing, laboratory, or inspection experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to generate reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to follow complex procedures and quality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety, allergen control, and food defense programs preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as operational needs require.
  • Food manufacturing and pistachio processing environment.
  • Exposure to production equipment, packaging machinery, conveyors, scales, metal detectors, and testing equipment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and manufacturing operations.
  • Frequent movement throughout production, packaging, roasting, and warehouse areas.
  • May be exposed to allergens including pistachios and other tree nuts.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with all food safety and safety requirements.
