Student Support Services Teacher / Behavior Interventionist
Position Summary
The Waseca Area Learning Center is seeking a student-centered professional to serve in a combined role consisting of approximately 70% Special Education (LD/EBD) and 30% Behavior Interventionist responsibilities. This position supports students academically, behaviorally, and socially-emotionally through individualized programming, interventions, and collaboration with staff and families.
Essential Responsibilities
Special Education Responsibilities
- Serve as an IEP case manager.
- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs and progress.
- Participate in evaluations, assessments, and IEP meetings.
- Collaborate with students, families, staff, and outside agencies to support student success.
- Support and consult with general education staff regarding accommodations and student needs.
- Maintain required documentation and timelines.
- Implement and monitor research-based behavioral interventions, including CICO, Check and Connect, social skills groups, and restorative practices.
- Collaborate with staff, students, and families to support behavioral and academic success.
- Collect and analyze intervention data to monitor student progress.
- Support staff with intervention implementation and behavior strategies.
- Participate in school and district meetings as needed.
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required or ability to obtain one.
- Preference given to candidates licensed in EBD.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional needs preferred.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Proficiency with educational technology systems including Google applications and Infinite Campus.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the school environment.
- Work in a typical school setting with minimal physical discomfort.
