Special Education Teacher Positions

Waseca Public Schools is looking for qualified teachers for multiple special education positions. These individuals may have licensure in learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, or autism. The hired teachers will be one part of a team working mostly with the special education students at Waseca Public Schools. Their teams consist of special education and regular education teachers within the school they are hired.

The right fit believes every student can learn and supports the building expectations for teaching all students. These individuals will be placed based on their experiences and skill-set. These individuals will also be responsible for supporting individualized education plans, meeting specific goals and objectives, and following through on behavior support plans.

Responsibilities include serving as an IEP case manager, working as a team member in IEP meetings, helping facilitate team meetings to review student progress and develop IEPs as related to student needs, planning and implementing appropriate educational programs for individuals, maintaining appropriate records and reports, collecting data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meeting all required timelines, developing, coordinating, and evaluating transition related experiences for students, if applicable, providing work direction to paraprofessional staff members, communicating effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress, collaborating with students, families, related service providers, outside agencies, and other team members to promote growth of each student, creating and maintaining a professional working relationship with families and staff, obtaining and demonstrating knowledge of general education curriculum including the grade level outcomes and state standards, assisting special education team in assessments, comprehensive report results, and following Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines, participating in building and district level professional development activities, and understanding and maintaining boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.

Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by administration.
