Technical Job Functions
  • Utilize CNC machines/manual mills and lathes and perform setups on multiple machine types to ensure that completed parts conform to print and process specifications with tight tolerances.
  • Read and interpret detailed drawings, prints, 3D models, and technical specifications.
  • Accurately inspect finished parts using microscopes, tool maker's scope, micrometers, OGP, gage pins, thread gages, indicators, calipers, or other equipment as needed.
  • Keep assigned work area, tools, and gauges clean, safe, and orderly at all times.
  • Provide input to Engineering departments regarding feasibility and capability to produce tooling/fixturing.
  • Plan, fabricate, and construct dies, tools, and fixtures to meet quality, safety, cost, and production requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance.
  • Participate in the development of new processes and assist in the evaluation of new equipment and tooling.
  • Train personnel in proper setup procedures, including using the correct tooling, correct methods for machine adjustment, measuring devices/techniques, and process control methods.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Continually monitor manufacturing methods, processes, and procedures to ensure departmental goals are met while maintaining or improving cost competitiveness, including identifying, recommending, and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Assume other projects and responsibilities as directed.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function of employment.
  • Maintain regular communication with Design Engineers, Tool Makers, Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, Production and Quality Assurance personnel for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Make daily independent and team decisions related to priority and technical job performance; accountable for producing quality parts and tools daily with limited supervision.
