Licensed School Social Worker - Therapeutic/Academic Setting
Immediate Supervisor:
Building Principal
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Licensed School Social Worker provides comprehensive social work services to support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. The School Social Worker works collaboratively with students, families, educators, mental health providers, and school staff to develop and implement effective supports, interventions, and services within the day treatment program. The position will work closely with the day treatment program teacher to provide therapeutic and academic programming to students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Licensed School Social Worker will:
- Facilitate the intake process for the day treatment program.
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans, including conducting periodic reviews.
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students.
- Collaborate and communicate with therapists, teachers, educational assistants, administrators, and supervisors regarding student needs and programming.
- Participate in faculty, special education, case management, curriculum, and related meetings to discuss student cases and program development.
- Complete, maintain, and review student reports, files, and records.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff within the day treatment program.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing behavioral and mental health interventions.
Required Education and Licensure:
Current Minnesota School Social Worker License.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of counseling principles and techniques, assessment and diagnosis principles, behavior management principles, special education principles and practices, ethical standards related to counseling and social work services, and applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop and implement behavioral intervention plans, communicate mental health-related information appropriately and effectively, establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, coworkers, supervisors, and community members, demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, and receive direction and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:
The Licensed School Social Worker may work in an environment involving challenging student behaviors and must be able to respond appropriately to situations involving aggressive student behavior.
