School Social Worker

The South West Metro Intermediate District #288 has a Full-Time opening for a School Social Worker at our Waseca Central/Tri-City United locations for the  School Year in Waseca/Montgomery, MN. South West Metro serves students in 11 member districts and 8 associate member districts across the southwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area with programs in Special Education, Career and Technical Education, Care & Treatment, Adult Education, and Alternative Education.

Description:

School Social Worker, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days. Provide supervision and support for students in an alternative classroom setting. Deliver direct and indirect social work services as outlined in students' IEPs. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to offer mental health support, implement restorative practices, and help students build social skills, manage behavior, and address the impact of mental health on learning.

Job Summary:

Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s). Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

School Social Work License Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff. Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Restrictive Procedures is required and provided by the District. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams. Knowledge and experience providing direct social work service to special education students, as outlined in the Individual Education Plan. Ability to provide direct social/emotional/mental health services, individual and group, to students.

Family engagement skills; knowledge of family systems theory. Conflict mediation, crisis management skills. Ability to performing assessments for mental health, and crisis situations. Commitment to trauma-informed, student centered practices.

Pay & Benefits:
