Sheet Metal Journeyman

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Lead by Example:

• Thorough knowledge of fabrication of sheet metal.
• Read, interpret, and follow drawings in the construction and assembly of sheet metal products
• Receives work orders and prints, developing sketches and using shop calculation if necessary. Selects materials according to strength, durability and suitability for the particular job.
• Sets up and operates sheet metal fabricating machines (i.e. shears, brakes, roll formers etc.) to cut, trim, form, shape and otherwise prepare parts and sections for assembly.
• Uses machine and hand tools to cut and form pieces to required dimensions. Solders, rolls or rivets seams.

• Follow company procedures and safety regulations in the completion of job assignments.

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with fellow employees.

Challenge the Ordinary:

• Thorough knowledge of HVAC troubleshooting and installation techniques including: brazing soldering, refrigerant recovery, evacuation and charging of systems

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Completion of company sponsored apprenticeship training program or two years of shop experience is preferred.
• Read architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC drawings.

Communication Skills/Requirements: Able to communicate with co-workers, other members of supervision as to work in progress, work completed, and/or work to be preformed in the future. Able to fill out (complete) appropriate paperwork, forms, etc. to document work in progress and/or completion.

Mathematical Ability: Able to perform routine addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division. Able to read and use various measuring devises.

Reasoning Ability: Able to make minor decisions as to set-ups and sequences to follow. Able to understand and carryout the requirements of the position in which employed.

Licenses/ Certifications: Journeyman license (as required). Equipment operation license (as required).

Physical Demands:

• Stand for long periods of time to perform essentials of work assigned.
• Walk and move throughout the work area as needed
• Lift up to 50lbs unassisted and 100+ lbs with use of lifting devises or help from other employees.
• Able to push, pull, reach and stoop as needed

Work Environment:

• Inside in a manufacturing environment. Temperature can vary with change of seasons.
