** position summary:
** the financial accounting senior staff is responsible for preparing and reviewing general ledger journal entries under the supervision of the accounting supervisor. This position requires knowledge of the month-end close process over the balance sheet, income, and expense accounts. Journal entries require reference to supporting documentation, schedules, account reconciliations, and research to ensure accurate financial reporting.
** primary duties and responsibilities:

* prepares general journal entries.
* reviews journal entries and supporting documents prepared by staff accountants for accuracy and completeness.
* prepares reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
* completes monthly departmental financial reports and conducts analysis and research of budget vs. Actual variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
* prepares daily, monthly, and ad hoc reports as assigned.
* attends required company training and meetings.
* follows department policies and procedures in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory guidelines.
* maintains the strictest confidence of all confidential information.
* responsible for the day-to-day operations of all assigned areas.
* serves as a role model and promotes professional behavior.
* performs other duties as assigned.
** minimum qualifications:
*** four-year degree in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting from an accredited university.
* five (5) years of general ledger accounting duties in a professional office setting.
* must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
* thorough knowledge of financial and accounting principles and familiarity with gaap.
* excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
* proficient in word, excel, power point, and outlook.
* must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
* must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods.
* must be able to work flexible hours.
* must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
* must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.
** preferred qualifications:
*** experience in a gaming and/or hospitality environment preferred.
* experience in preparing internal financial reports preferred.
* experience with workday preferred.
* experience tracking and monitoring expenses related to large internal construction projects preferred.
