Communications Assistant – PACT
The PACT Communications Assistant is an important part of a small team working closely together in service of professional theatres across Canada. This part‑time position (18 hours per week / 0.5 FTE) supports the infrastructure of our communications systems, including maintaining the website, drafting newsletters, and creating social media posts, while reporting to the Membership & Communications Manager.
While the role is primarily remote, the successful candidate will need to visit the PACT office in Toronto’s Distillery District for a few hours each week.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Administer the membership database (Sumac): update member information, add new contacts, and manage member accounts.
- Update and maintain the PACT website.
- Set up new members and connect them with their regions and caucuses.
- Administer Artsboard, the PACT jobs board, answer member questions, and draft Special Employment Bulletins.
- File CAEA, PGC, and ADC member contracts (physical and digital).
- Provide office administration support, such as mail pickup and on‑site assistance for technicians.
- Monitor the info email account and respond to member queries or forward them to the appropriate staff member.
- Create invoices for membership dues and assist members during the conference.
- Draft the bi‑weekly Industry Newsletter, including copy and content collection.
- Draft and send other communications:
Advocacy Alert, Contract Confidentials, Learning/Networking Newsletters, and Member Communiqués. - Draft social media posts and manage PACT’s Twitter and Facebook accounts; post new jobs, Learning/Networking offerings, and PACTcon updates.
- Monitor member social media accounts and amplify content when appropriate.
- At least one year of experience in communications, preferably in a non‑profit or performing‑arts environment.
- Strong writing skills and ability to capture the organization’s tone in social media posts.
- Excellent attention to detail when drafting written communications.
- Proficiency in Word Press.
- Experience with Sumac, Constant Contact, and Mosaico preferred.

This is a part‑time position (17.5 hours per week / 0.5 FTE) with a salary range of $20,500‑$22,500. Hours beyond the current assignment may be compensated accordingly.
