Job Overview
Tacoma Power’s largest electricity‑generating facility on the Cowlitz River is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant position located in Mossyrock, Washington.
ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Assistants use independent judgment to perform professional administrative functions by reviewing routine work of staff for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laws, rules, policies, procedures, and standards. The role involves handling confidential materials, coordinating personnel actions, assisting with projects or programs, and coordinating work within a department and between departments, the public, and other governmental entities.
RequirementsAssociate’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible office work experience. Depending on assignment, occasional travel within a 30‑mile radius may be required and a background check, including CJIS clearance when applicable, is mandatory.

- Knowledge of city and governmental policies and procedures regarding the area assigned.
- Ability to use a computer application to accurately enter text, insert pictures, format, edit, print, save, and retrieve word‑processing documents.
- Ability to use a computer application to manipulate and format text and numerical data, insert, delete and manipulate cells, rows, and columns, and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs.
- Knowledge of accounting support techniques.
- Strong communication skills, able to convey information clearly and effectively to internal and external customers face‑to‑face, on the telephone, by electronic mail, and through written correspondence.
- Ability to plan and organize work, analyze situations to develop a course of action, and interact respectfully and sensitively with individuals and groups.
- Experience coordinating personnel actions and projects within and between departments, and with the public and/or other governmental entities.
- Ability to handle confidential materials and maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Ability to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate information.
- Understanding of government structure, processes, budgeting, and office technologies.
- Ability to use basic math operations and understand units of measure.
- Experience with complex policy, process, and people‑related organizational dynamics.
- Background check and CJIS clearance as required.
