Job DescriptionPOSITION OBJECTIVE:
The position of Registrar Level 1 (middle school) is responsible for enrolling and withdrawing students, participating in the class scheduling system, and ensuring official District records, including transcripts, are maintained as required by law.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enroll new students, establish residency, verify enrollment paperwork, ensure accuracy when entering data into the Student Information System, and request student records.
- Maintain confidentiality of information protected by District policy and State and Federal laws.
- Withdraw students from the school as needed.
- Interpret, review, and input student course history to document progress toward graduation and create the official BSD transcript.
- Be self-sufficient with new technology and systems and transfer knowledge from one situation to another.
- Participate in and report on audits (enrollment, transcripts, records, etc.).
- Participate as a team member in the development, administration and maintenance of the District’s class scheduling system (master schedules).
- Maintain student permanent records and cumulative files; ensure only appropriate records are forwarded to District Records Department following graduation or withdrawal from the District.
- Provide a high level of service when working with internal and external customers.
- Support the school in the processing of report cards.
- Produce student lists and reports for school staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- School-based registrars report directly to and are supervised by building administration with support from Student Placement.
- District-based registrars report directly to and are supervised by the Registration Specialist.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required
- A high school diploma or an equivalent education.
Preferred
- Work experience in a school environment.
Allowable Substitutions
- May substitute experience for the above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Valid first aid and CPR certificate, if assisting in health clinic.
KNOWLEDGE
- Must think independently when faced with new situations and demonstrate ability to transfer knowledge.
- Must use MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Intermediate working knowledge of Excel functions.
- Understand basic data management practices.
- Working knowledge of FERPA.
- Ability to understand and follow all District policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to sit for prolonged periods.
- The ability to look at a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- Typical tasks include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects. - Incumbents may be exposed to mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
