The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity at the Pacific Cascade Region Headquarters Office in Castle Rock, WA. Join our reception team as an Office Assistant 3 (OA3) and assist in providing excellent customer service to the amazing communities of Southwest Washington and beyond! The Pacific Cascade Region spans from the beautiful Pacific Ocean to the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, south to the Columbia River and north to Lewis County and parts of Grays Harbor County.

With 3.5 million acres of state and private forest land, 33 recreation sites, and numerous natural preservation and conservation areas within our region boundaries, we are looking for an individual who is accountable, able to multitask, and has developed professional oral and written communication skills; along with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, is a self‑starter, and is proficient in office computer programs and office processes.

The Office Assistants on our reception team play a key role in maintaining an inclusive and respectful working environment while working with internal employees, external customers, private industries, tribes, and partner agencies to ensure administrative support is provided and correct information is communicated professionally, along with directing both in-person and over-the-phone inquiries to the correct programs within the Department. The Department of Natural Resources’ mission is to manage, sustain, and protect the health and productivity of Washington’s lands and waters to meet the needs of present and future generations.

This position supports that mission by performing front desk and reception support duties for the Pacific Cascade Region.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist customers, in-person and via a multi-line phone system.
  • Maintains several check‑in logs
  • Receives and receipts monies; maintains daily cash.
  • Assists with maintaining the Region calendar.
  • Schedules conference rooms and conference lines
  • Assists with motor pool reservations.
  • Processes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail daily.
  • Assists in the management of multiple shared email inboxes.
  • Assists with the complex tasks of monthly entry, reporting, and tracking of the Mileage Equipment Reports for vehicles assigned to the Region.
  • Provides backup coverage to the Resource Support Group as directed by supervisor.
  • Provides simple and complex miscellaneous administrative support to region staff as directed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience.

  • Proficient computer skills in the following:
    Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑starter, requires minimal supervision.
  • Effective organizational skills.

  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records retention, and ensure requests are followed.
