Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic

Auto King is seeking a Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Malaga, WA 6090. This is a full‑time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of vehicle servicing and repairs. As a key member of our automotive trades department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing light vehicles to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.

This role is essential to Auto King's reputation for delivering exceptional mechanical services and building long‑term customer relationships.

• Diagnose mechanical faults in engines, drive trains, and vehicle systems using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect, dismantle, repair, and replace engine components, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, brakes, and other mechanical assemblies.
• Reassemble engines and mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures.
• Perform wheel alignments, tyre fitting, balancing, puncture repairs, and related tyre services.
• Diagnose, service, and repair vehicle air conditioning systems (where licensed).
• Install, service, and repair 4WD accessories and upgrade components.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and comply with relevant regulations.
• Perform repairs on worn or defective mechanical parts using workshop manuals and technical information.
• Test, adjust, and verify repaired components to ensure optimum performance and reliability.
• Use computer‑based diagnostic tools to identify faults, reset systems, and complete electronic diagnostics.
• Conduct final quality checks and road tests where required.
• Identify additional repair requirements and communicate findings clearly with the Service Advisor.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
• Mentor and support apprentice and junior technicians when required.
• Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.

• Current qualification as a Light Vehicle Mechanic (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
• Valid driver's licence and excellent driving record.
• Demonstrated experience working in a professional automotive workshop environment.
• Preferred experience working with strong diagnostic skills and proven experience working on European vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computer systems used in modern vehicles.
• Knowledge of current vehicle safety standards and repair procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Physical fitness to perform demanding manual work, including lifting and extended periods on feet.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Preferred experience in a busy, multi‑bay workshop environment.
