The Castle Rock School District is seeking candidates for the position of Temporay Payroll/Benefits Officer. We seek an individual with the qualifications identified for preparing, distributing and reporting payroll information for all district employees, including benefit and tax reporting and remittance, and coordinating benefits for employees.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with college degree preference.
  • Successful experience preparing payroll in a public school/educational setting using Skyward/RDS software; for a period of two years strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer skills and 10-key proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with all district and state requirements and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and the public.
Specific Duties of the Payroll/Benefits Officer include:
  • Process payroll information (i.e., time sheets, withholding information, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of updating information and/or authorizing timely and accurate payment.
  • Analyze reports, agreements and regulations (i.e., labor distribution, payroll-related data, contracts, federal and state guidelines, etc.) for purposes of assuring accurate payroll reporting.
  • Coordinate payment and reporting for employee benefit programs (i.e., medical, dental, disability, retirement, tax-sheltered annuities, etc.).
  • Inform personnel regarding various procedures and program requirements for purposes of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
  • Maintain all records necessary (i.e., pay rates, leave records, contracts, payroll reports, etc.) for purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Monitor personnel status (i.e., leave time, hours worked, substitutes, etc.) for purpose of ensuring accurate payroll and compliance with contracts and regulations.
  • Orient new employees for purpose of providing information regarding payroll procedures and benefit availability.
  • Prepare periodic (monthly, quarterly, annually) payroll and benefit reports for all federal, state and local entities. Provide payroll information to administrators as required.
  • Respond in a timely and courteous manner to inquiries of staff for purpose of providing information or direction as may be required.
  • Reconcile payroll information for purpose of maintaining accurate reporting, distribution of funds and accurate account balances.
  • Assist in projecting employee benefits and salaries for budget preparation.
  • Assist with reporting of L&I, retirement, unemployment, tax-sheltered annuities, benefit programs, Social Security, Medicare, direct deposit.
  • Duties directly related to the purpose of the job.
