JOB SUMMARY

The Arts Specialist organizes and administers arts & crafts, STEM, nature, and other various activities under the direction of Programs Supervisor. They also provide a safe and effective art program while directly supervising campers participating in the art program. The Arts Specialist assists in planning and is responsible for delivering all arts and badgework camp programs. This role understands and responds to protocols and emergency procedures and provides an exceptional camp experience to all.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares, organizes, creates, and delivers programs in the assigned activity area.
  • Establishes and follows appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff.
  • Prepares, participates, and leads specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp areas.
  • Conducts inventory of supplies and places orders when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies.
  • Becomes familiar with the camp program and offers suggestions in the assigned activity area guidelines.
  • Maintains area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines.
  • Assists in packing all materials and supplies at the end of summer camping season.
  • Creates and maintains staff schedules and makes sure all staff are following through with their job descriptions.

  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum 18 years of age.
    • Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor.
    • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
    • Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
    • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
    • You must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

    • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and function work duties in summer heat.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    • Staff Training Week:
      June 1st - 5th
    • Week One:
      June 7th - 12th
    • Week Two:
      June 14th - 19th
    • Week Three:
      June 21st - 26th
    • Week Four:
      June 28th - July 1st
    • Week Five:
      July 7th - 10th
    • Week Six:
      July 12th - 17th
    • Staff Camp Clean Up:
      July 18th - 21st
    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
    • Required valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (will be provided if needed).
