The Devereux Glenholme School in Connecticut provides behavioral health services for children and young adults, ages 10 to 21, who are diagnosed with depression, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder, conduct disorder, op positional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder and poor impulse control.
Provides specific services in assessments by consistently performing strength-based psychiatric evaluation of all admissions and discharges that are thorough, accurate and according to established policies and procedures; conduct client assessments and makes recommendations for treatment; accurately assesses the safety level of clients. Follows through with actions warranted by assessment data obtained; documentation of evaluation data is thorough, accurate, timely, and legible.
Consults with treatment team and various disciplines to consistently develop treatment plan goals and interventions to effectively address the client’s health management needs that are based on strengths and needs identified in the assessment process. Evaluates for and prescribes medication with oversight from supervising Psychiatrist.
Actively engages in ongoing communication with other team members to assure an understanding of goals and interventions as needed. Assures the accurate and timely completion of all documentation of patient care processes that relate to regulatory and procedural compliance. Provides advice and assistance to leadership staff, clinicians, nursing and other staff on psychiatric issues, will assist in educating staff on medications prescribed to clients including side effects, works with client and their families to discuss medication options and obtains permission to administer medications, participates in pharmacy and therapeutics review process and other performance improvement initiatives.
This role will attend treatment and leadership meetings as needed, for professional opinions on psychiatric and medical issues, serve as a liaison to outside providers / agencies on matters requiring psychiatric / mental health expertise.
$65.00 - $90.00 hourly
EducationConnecticut Board certified NP-Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist with specialized training in psychiatry / mental health. Completion of an approved post masters training in child and adolescent mental health is preferred. Preferred certified PMH Advanced Practice Psychiatric Registered Nurse.
ExperienceMinimum three years’ experience preferably in a residential setting and demonstrated skills and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Child/Adolescent growth and development, signs and symptoms of mental health disorders commonly found in clients served at Devereux Connecticut.
