SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

You know the difference between an estimate that wins work and one that just fills in a bid form.

We are Skyward Construction LLC, a Pacific Northwest general contractor that has been building trust since 1997. We are looking for a Senior Estimator who holds a high standard, communicates without being chased, and wants every project to be a win for the owner, the subs, and the team on the ground.

Here is how we measure a good day:

• The scope was complete, the number was right, and we submitted on time
• Every sub got a clear, fair picture of what they were pricing
• The technical proposal was sharp, complete, and said something real about who we are and how we would do the work
• We communicated a problem the moment we saw it, not the day before bid day
• We say no to the right opportunities and yes to the ones we can win and could execute with excellence

That is the bar. It does not move.

You will lead estimating on commercial, public, and federal construction projects from $500K to $15M across the Pacific Northwest. This means:

• Full takeoffs and scope development from plans and specs
• Authoring technical proposals for federal procurements: written narratives, approach sections, past performance documentation, and supporting exhibits
• Bid day subcontractor vetting, validation, and compilation
• Clear, complete scope of work narratives before a number goes out
• Primary preconstruction contact with GC teams, owners, and government representatives
• Field collaboration to ensure estimates are executable, not just competitive
• Go/no-go input based on fit, margin, and risk, not just availability

We are looking for candidates who are or want to be in the Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR corridor.

• Estimators with VA, DOE, or DOW project experience
• Professionals who have written technical proposals for federal solicitations
• People with a reputation for solid subcontractor relationships and effective leadership of subordinates
• Professionals with experience mentoring or leading others in an estimating or preconstruction function, with openness to continuing to grow in how they lead, not just in what they estimate

• 5+ years of GC estimating experience (or 2 years as GC and 5+ years as single scope estimator) on commercial, federal and/or public construction
• Demonstrated ability to communicate accurately and promptly, without being prompted
• Comfort working alongside field superintendents and sharing accountability
• Familiarity with Sage Estimating or similar construction estimating platforms
• A valid driver's license and the willingness to show up to bid walks

• Pacific Northwest market knowledge
• Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management platforms

$120,000 to $155,000+ total compensation

Base salary: $100,000 to $125,000 DOE, plus bid win bonuses, margin bonuses, medical, dental, 401K with up to 5% employer contribution, and paid time off.
