Dental Hygienist 2
Full Time - Permanent, Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC), Clallam Bay, WA.
Salary: $6,836.00–$9,197.00 per month.
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Dental Hygienist 2 to provide hygiene services and education to incarcerated patients on good hygiene techniques. The position is integral to ensuring quality, safe health services and continuity of care for patients served by DOC Health Services. The position will adhere to the standards for quality care defined with professional guidelines, the Offender Health Plan, the DOC formulary, and other applicable statewide publications and algorithms.
Responsibilities- General Supervision
- Record health histories
- Take and record blood pressure and vital signs
- Perform head and neck exam
- Oral inspection and measuring of periodontal pockets, with no diagnosis
- Patient education in oral hygiene
- Take intra‑oral and extra‑oral radiographs and photographs
- Give pre‑operative and post‑operative instructions
- Give fluoride treatments
- Deliver oral antibiotic prophylaxis as prescribed by a dentist
- Administer local anesthetic agents and adjunctive procedures
- Apply topical anesthetic agents
- Oral prophylaxis and removal of deposits and stains from the surfaces of the teeth
- Sterilize equipment and disinfect operatories
- Perform deep cleanings (Scaling/Root planing)
- Place retraction cord
- Place a temporary filling after diagnosis and examination by the dentist (e.g., ZOE, IRM, etc.)
- Pack and medicate extraction areas
- Close Supervision Only
- Remove soft‑tissue under gingiva (curettage)
- Administer local anesthetic agents and adjunctive procedures
- Place restorations into the cavity prepared by the dentist, and thereafter could carve, contour, and adjust contacts and occlusion of that restoration if expanded function training has been completed by an ADA CODA‑accredited dental hygiene program
- Place approved medications (antimicrobials) prescribed by the dentist under the gingiva
- Documentation
- Document encounters and treatment plans in the patient’s medical record
- Document encounters in OMNI‑HS
- Participate in needle and equipment counts and maintain dental clinic log books accurately according to DOC policies
- Respond timely to patients’ inquiries related to dental hygiene services as directed by a DOC dentist
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, peers and subordinates
- Unrestricted license to practice Dental Hygiene in Washington State.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in clinical dentistry.
- Maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare providers.
