Dentist – Coyote Ridge Corrections Center

Connell, WA 99326 – Monday-Friday 07:30-16:00

Responsibilities

The dentist provides medically necessary dental care to patients in the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review the patient’s medical condition and consult with other providers.
  • Make oral examinations to determine oral health; record number of teeth, conditions, fillings, gum health, and bone support.
  • Diagnose and plan treatment for dental conditions; prescribe medications, perform periodontal treatments, administer local anesthetic, and take digital dental radiographs.
  • Administer routine and urgent dental care, including pain, trauma, and infection treatment.
  • Perform oral surgery such as surgical extractions within facility limits, as well as endodontics, periodontics, restorative, and operative dentistry.
  • Determine the extent of patient cooperation and the amount of service provided under the Offender Health Plan.
  • Extract teeth, remove cavities, prepare teeth for fillings, and insert amalgam or resin fillings.
  • Coordinate care with contract dentists and denturists; refer patients for specialist care as necessary.
  • Prepare reports concerning dental work and patient dental health.
  • Accurately maintain patient and administrative records.
  • Actively participate in the Dental Care Review Committee.
  • Delegate clinical duties to dental assistants and hygienists in accordance with state laws.
Training and Professional Requirements
  • Valid, unencumbered Washington State license to practice dentistry.
  • Unrestricted DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of clinical experience in dentistry.
  • Experience in managing medical/dental documentation and records.
  • Knowledge of scheduling routine and special dental procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and related technologies.
