Position OverviewGMG Solutions Group seeks an Accountant to support a wide range of accounting and administrative functions including the accounts payable, customer billing, inventory accounting, project costing, business license and tax compliance. Working as an individual contributor and reporting to the Director – Finance, the newly created role is critical to ensure that business performance is reported accurately and timely.
Responsibilities- Process accounts payable invoices in accordance with commercial terms and company policies
- Prepare customer billing in accordance with project milestones and commercial terms
- Partner with business unit personnel to identify project costs and complete percentage of completion accounting in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure that all inventory stock items are accounted for by ensuring depletion and replenishment transactions are accurately captured in the ERP and supporting subledgers.
- Perform month end closing journal entries to accrue for non-cash items, track pre-paid expenses and other deferred items
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
- Support preparation of annual tax and other jurisdictional filings
Skills and Qualifications
- 2-5 years of prior accounting experience
- Strong project management experience that preferably includes ERP conversion, change management and process efficiency
- Superior Excel skills (8 of 10) and ability to create templates/models from scratch
- 4 year degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of accounting transactional and general ledger experience
- Hands on experience with Quick Books or other similar small to middle market ERP platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Consummate team player, high degree of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
- Intrinsically motivated by improving outcomes, overcoming challenges and continuously learning
- Ability to lead by influence
- Experience in entrepreneurial, high growth environment
- Corporate office located in Washington DC
- Hybrid role, 2-3 days per week in office
