We are seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant with strong bookkeeping and payroll expertise to support day-to-day accounting operations and monthly close activities. This role requires hands-on experience with Deltek Computer Ease and a solid understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and payroll processing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations
- Perform bookkeeping functions, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger (GL)
- Prepare and analyze trial balances
- Complete bank reconciliations on a regular basis
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
- Ensure payroll and accounting data integrity within Deltek Computer Ease
- Prepare reports and schedules using Excel to support accounting and management needs
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll or accounting discrepancies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll accounting or bookkeeping
- Must have hands-on experience with Deltek Computer Ease (non-negotiable)
- Strong payroll processing experience
- Solid understanding of GL accounting, trial balances, and reconciliations
- Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations and monthly closings
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, pivots preferred)
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience in construction, government contracting, or project-based accounting
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll or complex payroll structures
