Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. This role plays a key part in monthly close, financial reporting, payroll, payables and receivables oversight, compliance management, and continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical depth with a service-oriented mindset and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support monthly close, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance resolution
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, including quarterly debt compliance certificates
  • Manage accounts payable processes, vendor approvals, and expense system optimization
  • Oversee invoicing and collections, leveraging ERP systems and client portals; monitor purchase order funding
  • Assist with new client setup and required documentation submissions
  • Partner with the Controller to manage shared accounting inboxes and ensure timely internal communication
  • Run and oversee payroll processing for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
  • Manage multi-state registrations and compliance, including SUI accounts and payroll tax requirements
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Support benefits administration, including 401(k) reconciliations and audit support
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with accounting policies
  • Process and manage 1099 contractor payments and annual reporting
  • Support annual financial statement audits and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Provide cross-functional support across HR, Contracts, and Operations
  • Continuously improve workflows, documentation, and accounting SOPs
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (public or in-house)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with revenue and expense management
  • Payroll processing and multi-state compliance experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to build, document, and improve processes
  • High integrity and discretion handling sensitive information
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
Preferred Experience
  • ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or similar
  • Invoicing portals and expense platforms
  • Payroll/HRIS systems
  • Workflow optimization and automation initiatives
