Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. This role plays a key part in monthly close, financial reporting, payroll, payables and receivables oversight, compliance management, and continuous process improvement.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical depth with a service-oriented mindset and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support monthly close, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance resolution
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, including quarterly debt compliance certificates
- Manage accounts payable processes, vendor approvals, and expense system optimization
- Oversee invoicing and collections, leveraging ERP systems and client portals; monitor purchase order funding
- Assist with new client setup and required documentation submissions
- Partner with the Controller to manage shared accounting inboxes and ensure timely internal communication
- Run and oversee payroll processing for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
- Manage multi-state registrations and compliance, including SUI accounts and payroll tax requirements
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Support benefits administration, including 401(k) reconciliations and audit support
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with accounting policies
- Process and manage 1099 contractor payments and annual reporting
- Support annual financial statement audits and respond to auditor inquiries
- Provide cross-functional support across HR, Contracts, and Operations
- Continuously improve workflows, documentation, and accounting SOPs
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience (public or in-house)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with revenue and expense management
- Payroll processing and multi-state compliance experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to build, document, and improve processes
- High integrity and discretion handling sensitive information
- CPA is preferred but not required.
- ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or similar
- Invoicing portals and expense platforms
- Payroll/HRIS systems
- Workflow optimization and automation initiatives
