The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance and is responsible for performing the daily accounting cycle functions for D.C. United and its subsidiaries and affiliates. The Staff Accountant will process accounting transactions to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, meets deadlines, proactively anticipates potential problems, and recommends improvements to internal processes.
COMPENSATION
$45,000 - $55,000 annual salary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives and reviews day-to-day invoices, subcontracts, check requests, and/or other related documentation for completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures, budget, and contractual requirements.
- Processes payments into the Mineral Tree payment system.
- Prepares general ledger entries.
- Maintains asset and liability roll forward schedules (including intercompany)
- Maintains revenue recognition schedules for ticket sales, sponsor ships, and other revenue streams
- Updates cash journals with daily activity.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes (including accruals).
- Assists in the annual audit by providing requested documents, researching variances, and responding to questions.
- Performs a wide range of accounting and administrative duties to support the accounting department. Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 0-3 years corporate accounting experience
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting/ERP software
- A team player who demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong collaboration, time management, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to multi-task and manage work streams on strict deadlines
